I was a software & web site developer in my previous incarnation of my career, so I KNOW FROM PERSONAL EXPERIENCE. You need to constantly work to keep up with the changing technologies! For example, with WP themes and plug-ins and in fact any software, you need to CONTINUALLY develop for the upgrades ... if the WP framework changes, then you need to upgrade your themes or plug-ins, otherwise, your previous hard work is not going to work anymore.
