HISTORY OF BAGUIO CITY
baguio city
The City of Baguio is a highly urbanized city in northern Luzon in the Philippines. Baguio City was established by Americans in 1900 at the site of an Ibaloi village known as Kafagway. Baguio is the seat of government of the Cordillera Administrative Region. The name of the city is derived from the word bagiw in Ibaloi, the indigenous language of the Benguet Region, meaning 'moss'. The city is at an altitude of approximately 1500 meters (5100 ft) in theLuzon tropical pine forests ecoregion conducive to the growth of mossy plants & orchids. Baguio City has become the center of business & commerce as well as the center of education in the entire Northern Luzon.
The region around Baguio was first settled primarily by the the Ibalois & later the kankanaey's. In the nearby town of La Trinidad, Benguet, Spaniards established acommandante or military garrison, although Kafagway, as Baguio was once known, was barely touched. In 1901 Japanese & Filipino workers hired by the Americans built Kennon Road, the first road directly connecting Kafagway with the lowlands of Pangasinan. Before this, the only road to Kafagway was Naguilian Road. On September 1, 1909 Baguio was declared a chartered city. The famous American architect Daniel Burnham, one of the earliest successful modern city planners, laid a meticulous plan for the city in 1904. His plan was, nevertheless, realized only to a small extent, primarily due to growth of the city well beyond its initial planned population of 25,000 people. The Americans earlier declared Baguio the Summer Capital of the Philippines on July 1, 1903 & The American Residences the residence of the American governor-general to escape Manila's summer heat. They further developed Baguio, building parks & public structures such as Wright Park in honor of Governor General Luke E. Wright, Burnham Park in honor of Baguio city planner Daniel Burnham, Governor Pack Road, & Session Road.

ABANAO SQUARE GIVES BACK THIS CHRISTMAS
Last December 08, 2013 a Christmas Party filled with fun games and excitement andsumptuous food was held at Dontogan Elementary School to express Abanao Square’s greetings to kids during the Christmas Season. The said party was intended to show to them that the true meaning of Christmas is giving.
It was a day filled with fun games and sumptuous food and beverages as provided by our generous partners; Greenwich, JCM Exhibits Depot, Patdew Shawarma, LBC, MJ Gas and Zagu. Santa Claus was also present during the event to hand out gifts to the kids.
Santa Claus who is a fictional character which symbolizes giving, loving and forgiving was also present during the event to give gifts to the kids.

Down vote here. Stopped at 8:15 and she still hasn't said anything of substance other than she started and sold a "green company". Maybe she was too young at the time but the school district certainly wasn't thinking in a green manner. Why were they using the largest bus available disrupting the parking flow at the new school. Burning excessive amounts of fossil fuel and creating much more co2 emissions when the simple solution should have been to use a district automobile to do the transporting. This is what she should have been addressing ? But up to now the talk is all about this "crazy thing" the school district did just for her ? A waste of time. Please take note of the up and down votes. I did not here. If not around 10 to 1 or better. I don't normally listen to it.

Facebook pushed live-streaming video to its global user base this year, and while the feature garnered widespread attention during the U.S. presidential election and for live police shootings, the most popular broadcast of 2016 came from a chuckling “Star Wars” fan.
The No. 1 most-viewed Facebook Live video came from Candace Payne, aka “Chewbacca Mom,” who became a viral sensation after posting a video of herself wearing a growling mask of the famous “Star Wars” Wookiee and laughing uncontrollably in her car. Her four-minute broadcast has now been watched more than 162 million times.
The Texas resident’s internet fame led to TV appearances, including on CBS’s “The Late Late Show With James Corden” where Payne, Corden and J.J. Abrams donned Chewie masks while sitting in a car. Facebook also invited Payne to its Menlo Park, Calif., headquarters for a bike ride with Chewbacca himself.
Five of the top 10 most popular broadcasts on Facebook Live were related to the 2016 U.S. presidential election. That included BuzzFeed’s sardonic countdown clock to the 2020 election, posted Nov. 9 after Donald Trump’s defeat of Hillary Clinton. Meanwhile, Facebook has been accused of not doing enough to curb the propagation of fake news on the social-media site, which critics have charged affected the election’s outcome.
In its inaugural year, Facebook Live also became the center of controversy after several deaths were captured live on the service, including a video of Minnesota police killing Philando Castile (since removed from Facebook) that spawned nationwide protests.

‘No more lines’: How Reichelle set up her own payment center while working a 9 to 5 office job

Reichelle is the embodiment of the entrepreneurial Filipina - curious, passionate, and constantly on the lookout for new opportunities. Working as a PR assistant at a multinational in Taguig, she stumbled upon Coins.ph while looking for ways to earn extra income on the side.
“I was curious about how I could run a payment center with just my phone,” she shares, “At first, I was just planning to use it for personal use - to pay my bills and buy load from time to time.”
AN ON-THE-GO PAYMENT CENTER
Reichelle came around when she found out that there was no minimum capital to get started. “I was surprised by how easy it was.” she says, “I just download the app, walk to a nearby bank branch to make a deposit, and then minutes later I see the money in my Coins.ph app.”
She tried the service out by loading her own phone: ‘I got my load in less than a minute. I knew it was real!’ A few days later, Reichelle started offering her co-workers to pay their bills and load their phones, which they gladly accepted. “Good for them, hindi na sila lalabas sa traffic at pipila para lang mag-load o magbayad ng bills. I do it for them.”
She makes 5% for every mobile top-up and P5 per bill, all of which are instantly credited to her wallet app once they have been processed: “Imbis na ikaw ang may charge sa bawat transaction, dito ikaw pa ang binabayaran.”
CONVENIENCE FIRST
Reichelle also talks about how the payment center has been a great help for her mom: 'My mom used to go out and commute a lot to pay all her bills,’ she says, “With this I can do everything from my phone, and my mom can have more free time.”
When asked whether she values the earning or the convenience aspect more, Reichelle answers that it’s still the latter that gets her coming back to the service: “Credit cards, Meralco, PLDT, Maynilad - everything is in one place. I save a lot of time since I don’t have to line up for each one. It turned out to be more convenient for myself, my officemates, and my family.”
